چکیده
Tectona grandis Linn. f. (teak) is one of the most appreciated high-quality timber all over world due to its economic value and wide array applications. This tropical hardwood presents outstanding characteristics like pleasing aesthetic appearance, strength, lightness, ease working, dimensional stability, decay resistance. The latter quality mainly ascribed extractives, which contain biologically active compounds (mainly quinones anthraquinones) that confer a natural resistance against termites fungi. review focuses on teak secondary metabolites bioactivity potential heartwood extractives. Furthermore, it covers generalities tree gives an overview approaches aimed valorize wastes from woodworking enterprises as possible source functional extractives eco-friendly raw material. Notwithstanding efforts made elucidate present in wood, further research needed understand chemical bases decay. Moreover, there lack economic, technical, ecotoxicity feasibility studies regarding bioactive molecules for pharmaceutical, food, or cosmetics purposes.

This research aims to investigate the hypoglycemic activity of methanolic extract of Tectona grandis root in alloxan induced diabetic albino rats. A comparison was made between the action of Tectona grandis methanolic extract and a known antidiabetic drug glibenclamide (0.5mg/kg p.o).The methanolic extract of Tectona grandis linn. root was administered orally at different doses to normal rats. ...
متن کاملProspects of Tectona Grandis as a Feedstock for Biodiesel
The limited availability of fossil fuels has encouraged the need of replacement fuels of renewable nature. Among the renewable fuels, biodiesel produced from oil seeds and food wastes has been favored by the majority of researchers. In this study, Tectona Grandis seed oil has been investigated as a non-edible feedstock for biodiesel. The oil content of seed is 43% which makes it suitable for co...
متن کاملBioactive secondary metabolites from Salix tetrasperma Roxb.
Column chromatography of the light petroleum fraction from the methanolic extract of the stem bark of Salix tetrasperma Roxb. (Salicaceae) resulted in the isolation of beta-sitosterol acetate, friedelin, 3beta-friedelinol, beta-amyrin, beta-sitosterol, beta-sitosterol-O-glucoside in addition to palmitic acid. From the dichloromethane fraction of the leaves, catechol and tremulacin were isolated...
